Program changes

The final start date for the full-time Esthiology program is August 26, 2008. Effective August 2008, Aveda Institute Denver will combine its Esthiology and Massage programs into one dual-licensing program! This 8-month long program is divided into three phases: Vata, Pitta, Kapha and will explore the marriage of skin esthetics and massage. Upon completion, graduates will earn 600 certified massage therapy hours and 20 credits in Esthiology.

Esthiology: An Aveda Institute education is rigorous and thorough. Throughout the Esthiology program, you'll cover the following topics in varying levels of depth and detail, giving you and exceptional foundation for your professional career. You'll experience Plant Aromaology, Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology, Makeup application, Facial Massage, Clinic Practice and Skin Treatments.

Massage: Learn how to create wellness through the power of touch in just a few months. A balanced study of anatomy, physiology, pathology, aromaologyTM, spa treatments and body movement techniques adds depth to the massage techniques you’ll use to address the individual needs of your guests. After completing course requirements, you will be a certified massage therapist and you’ll have the skills you need to find employment in a spa, health club or in a clinical environment.

Time Keeping Guidelines, page 34, 35:

Aveda Institute Denver no longer uses a time-clock method for time-keeping. Effective February 2007, the Point System was put into place for purposes of tracking time, participation points, and academic progress. Future Professionals’ time is recorded by using a sign-in/out time sheet. Future Professionals are responsible for accurately signing in and out at the beginning, end of each day and for breaks.

Attendance Policies & Tardiness, page 34,35:

A day is defined as follows:

For full-time cosmetology and esthiology students, a day is defined as 9 am – 5 pm Tuesday – Friday and 8:15 am – 5 pm on Saturdays. Future professionals may not arrive after 10 am Tuesday – Friday or after 9 am on Saturdays. For part-time esthiology and massage students, a day is defined as 5:30 – 9:30 pm Monday – Friday. Future Professionals may not arrive after 6 pm.

Saturday Attendance, page 34,35:

Future professionals are allowed to miss three Saturdays for cosmetology and two Saturdays for esthiology. Exceeding the above will results in a fee-based penalty in which future professionals will pay a daily rate for each Saturday missed after the above is exceeded.
